A look, a laugh, an inhale, a connection, a kiss, a yawn, surprise, delight, a tear, a dance, a thought, a sigh.

That’s why I do this. For the moments. I do appreciate the artistry and importance of a properly posed portrait, but I’ve chosen photography as my vocation because I love love. And love manifests itself in moments.

I recently received an email from a client about her wedding gallery in which she said: “We are so happy how you two managed to catch so many moments and turn all of our photos into a sort of movie. You can literally follow the events of the night and every photo seems to be connected perfectly to the one in front and behind it.”

And that’s what this is all about.

It’s about connecting your moments to tell your story.

With that, I leave you with some of my favourite moments from the last 12 months.

I always like to share a couple of shots from all sessions with my clients the day after the session. Throughout wedding season especially, I don’t always post these teasers on the blog, but today I had to. Jenn, Rick and Jack are so cute. They are actually from Edmonton and in a small world connection, they found me through a friend of a friend (amazing photographer and dear friend Jenna Marie Lamb). I love these three. I can’t wait to share more from their beautiful day!

Fall is coming late this year, folks, and I’ve got a handful of spots open over the next couple of weeks for engagements, family sessions, maternity sessions, baby sessions, whatever you like!

If you are a regular reader, you may notice some new styling going on around here! Ever since my rebranding (back in December), I’ve been tweaking and re-tweaking my site. In the last couple of weeks I came to realize that this is because it wasn’t quite working for me. So I started over again. I’m very happy with this current, super simple, styling!

Plus, more exciting things (like new portfolio pages for families, engagements and weddings) are on their way within the next two weeks! There are lots of things a-brewing over here at Allison Suter Photography!

But what good is a blog post without a session? The first session of the day on Saturday, April 30 was a hybrid couple shoot and family shoot with Ryan, Dave and their beautiful (and oh-so-smart) daughter Leighton.

It was the first really beautiful morning of the year (which is nice on a gray day like today). Angie and I had such fun shooting them; it was a great start to a great day!

I met up with Nadine, Mark and Isabelle on a beautiful fall morning in Toronto. The weather was perfect: the sun was shining through the trees, and the leaves were at their most vibrant. I loved my time with this beautiful family, they were super fun to shoot!

Isabelle is simply adorable and she was a trooper through (pretty much) our entire session – when she needed a pick me up, Nadine pulled out an apple. Normally, I would wait until the apple was done to keep shooting, but what is a better symbol of beautiful fall days than a crunchy apple. I think the images turned out great!

It was such a pleasure photographing your beautiful family Nadine and Mark.

Heading now towards the winter… I’m super excited about the cooler weather as I love love love winter family and engagement sessions. Winter sessions are generally a little shorter (as they can be FREEZING) but they are delicious. The soft light in the winter brings a beautiful glow to the images!
