Kirsty & Matthais Stanley Park Elopement

When Kirsty called me from Australia asking if I could photograph her & Matthais’ September elopement, my heart lept jumped with excitement. Then when she asked if I could pick somewhere I thought would be beautiful, my heart just about exploded. Kirsty & Matthais’s wedding was heartfelt and warm. Just the two of them, their beautiful son Otto, and Matthais’ parents were there to celebrate the day. It was a beautiful ceremony, fun portraits, and I was so honoured to be a part of their day.

I’ve told you before how much I love Slavi & Johanie. It was such an honour when they asked us to shoot their wedding. But we were nervous. The vast majority of our clients become our friends through the process… we’ve been friends with these two for a long time.

We wanted their day to be perfect for so many reasons. Not the least of which is what wonderful, smart, and talented (not to mention beautiful) people they both are. Slavi & Johanie had a bit of a battle with their wedding: their original venue went out of business. But as luck would have it, Brix had a cancellation for September 1st on the very same day that Slavi & Johanie found out their original venue was falling through. And it was perfect. Such a lovely place for friends and family hailing from all over (Johanie is from Quebec, Slavi from Bulgaria). And the day couldn’t have been better.

Simone and Ian’s wedding in the Secret Garden at the Little White House in Fort Langely was nothing short of amazing. Seriously—it was insanely beautiful (it was decorated by the bride & bridesmaids using some awesome DIY skills combined with the savvy of the Little White House proprietors and their awesome stuff).

Their ceremony was beautiful—and presided over by Young, Hip, and Married (highly recommended, by the way). We headed over to the Fort for their portraits. And then we spent the evening celebrating in style.

All in all an awesome day for an awesome couple.

leisha & trevor :: loden penthouse wedding

The Loden Hotel is one of my favourite venues for intimate weddings. When you combine the Loden Hotel with a couple as awesome as Leisha & Trevor, well you are in for a treat.

Leisha & Trevor didn’t want a traditional wedding. But that didn’t stop them from having a beautiful ceremony, surrounded by their closest friends and family—there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. They walked down the aisle together, exchanged a ring and a watch, decorated the space with things they like to do (cycle, sail, travel) and with pictures of their families. And they had a magician doing the rounds during cocktail hour. It was an awesome evening and we were honoured to be there.
