Then, when my husband first moved to Vancouver he spent a month or so living with Sean’s parents while he found an apartment. They were groomsmen in each other’s weddings. And then Sean and Lisa had baby Charlotte, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her! When they were back for Christmas, we took the opportunity to do a family photoshoot on a beautiful January morning. Yup. This was in January. Vancouver is a beautiful city.
    Remember Carter’s mom and dad Jess and Rob? They are good friends of Slavi & Johanie. Baby Carter came just in time for Christmas, and I got to meet him when he was just one week old.
I have a confession to make… I’m not particularly into Anne Geddes style “baby in stuff, baby on stuff” photography. That’s not to say I don’t love a cute knitted outfit (especially a DIYed knitted outfit) or a perfect swaddling for several shots. But the reason I’m a photographer is to capture life and moments as they happen. This is why I shoot newborn babies and their families in their homes. I want to capture what your life is like when it is turned on its head to make room for the new little person in your life. Baby Adelyn, Mark & Nicole’s session is a perfect example of what I love to do. Capture families, as they are. And if baby is crying? … that’s ok … she is a baby after all. And then she’ll wear herself out and sleep for us.
Nothing fills my heart more than a new baby. Except perhaps when that new baby belongs to my friends and she is making them so very happy.
