I originally signed up for the wedding photography workshop with Tara McMullen at Pikto as it came highly recommended by my friend Mary of Lemon Fresh Designs. I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn from a photographer I admire and to get to know some other fresh faces in the Toronto wedding photography industry. But by the time the course rolled around, I needed it. I was feeling uninspired. I was wondering whether I should just let this dream lapse; work instead on new projects. I required a jump start.
It was with trepidation that I walked into the first day. I’ve followed both Tara’s blog and Tara herself on twitter for about a year. I sort of felt like I knew her, but I didn’t, and that’s a little awkward. Furthermore, I was looking for inspiration. How dorky can you be? To top it all off, Tara just seems so cool. A few minutes in I realize I needn’t have worried. Tara is wonderful, warm, and downright honest. She’s a regular person, who happens to be incredibly talented. And she’s a great workshop leader.
Needless to say, I came out of the workshop having found what I was looking for (you can read more about it here). On top of that, I got to create some pretty great images. As you can see, the first day was the engagement session. It was dreamy and hectic all at once. And Tara’s couple were troupers. Seriously.

Mary - Great photos Allison! Wasn’t Tara’s workshop beyond inspiring? Glad you enjoyed it and I’m loving the new blog. Nicely done!
ardean - These are great. Love the awesome flare going on in the second set.
I’d love to do a workshop – something I really need to do too :)
Kelly - just searched for Tara and your site popped up… I was at the same course – happy to see a familiar face! Love your work : )
